The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) would like to announce the 10th international summer school  "GridKa School 2012: Cloud & Grid Computing". It is one of the leading summer schools for advanced computing techniques in Europe. The school provides a forum for scientists and technology leaders, experts and novices to facilitate knowledge sharing and information exchange. The target audience are different groups like grid and cloud newbies, advanced users as well as site administrators, graduate and PhD students in computing and physics disciplines. GridKa School is hosted by Steinbuch Centre for Computing (SCC) of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). It is organized by KIT, the Swiss National Grid Initiative (SwiNG) and the HGF Alliance "Physics at the Terascale". This year the 10th school will be on 27-31 August at KIT Campus North, Karlsruhe.

The technical program covers the following topics:

  • Large scale data management
  • Multi-core computing
  • Effective programming
  • Cloud technologies
  • Configuration management
  • Grid middleware
  • Security
Half of the school consists of the expert talks, which cover the fundamental and theoretical aspects of the topics. While the other half consists of the hands-on sessions and workshops, which give the participants the excellent chance to gain the practical experience of techniques and tools.
A key aspect of this year's GridKa School will be computer security. The plenary talk on security will cover the most common threats to computer security in the Grid and Cloud Computing environment. During 3-day security workshop the participants with help of simulated virtual environment will learn how to react on the security incidents and perform a forensic analysis after simulated security incidents.
The program is completed by two social events ('tarte flambee' evening at the German WLCG Tier-1 center GridKa and the school dinner in the city center).
